Mont Passot: sunset logistics

Mont Passot is Nosy Be’s highest point. Head there at sunset to overlook volcanic lakes, listen to Sakalava legends and toast the end of the day.

Contenu

Leave at 4 p.m. After a 35-minute drive you reach the park entrance. A wooden walkway (200 metres) leads to the viewing deck at 329 m.

The panorama covers eight sacred lakes, ylang-ylang plantations and the Sakatia and Nosy Saba islets. Your guide shares local taboos and explains why swimming is forbidden in several lakes.

At the summit Ginot sets up an aperitif—fresh juices, infused rum, samosas—and hands out binoculars to spot frigatebirds or flying foxes. After sunset, return by night with photo stops when the sky is clear.

Bring a light jacket (wind can pick up), closed shoes and mild repellent. During the rainy season, pack a poncho.
