From July to October, humpback whales pass through the waters of the Nosy Be archipelago. This is strictly a boat-based wildlife-watching trip, keeping a respectful distance while looking for blows, backs, tail flukes and sometimes breaches. The trip also includes a stop at Nosy Sakatia.
Plan your outing
Look for whale blows offshore
Head out in the morning to the observation areas. Watch the surface for a blow or a movement, then observe the whales from a distance when they appear. A stop at Nosy Sakatia completes the outing, subject to the conditions at sea.
Enjoy the view from the boat
All observation takes place from the boat, without entering the water. Whale sightings are never guaranteed and departure depends on sea conditions. Discuss the meeting point, meals and any transfer from your hotel with Ginot as you prepare for the day.
